The Treasure Of A Married Woman

As she wakes up in the morning
She finds her Mangalsutra entwined
She untangles it
She is enveloped in the bliss
That he tied it to her for life!

(Mangalsutra is a necklace worn by a Hindu woman to signify that she is married)

As she applies vermilion on her forehead
The mirror tells the woman a princess story
That she in this beautiful relation
That she will enjoy for years to come
That maroon colour that decorates her forehead

After she worships God
She applies turmeric powder to her Mangalsutra
She feels elated
She gets the feeling of belonging to him
She wants to continue this ritual for years to come

As she does her household chores
Her bangles clank
It reminds her of the beautiful relation she is in
A smile plays on her lips.

She thinks what can be cooked for him
She watches videos, googles for recipes
She wants to cook a tasty dish for him
She goes by the taste of his cuisine
And when she cooks
He is happy
His happiness while eating
Is like that of a child eating favourite chocolate
She observes him
She feels contended.

Her toes are decorated with a new piece of jewellery
The toe rings add colour and beauty to her feet
As she changes them occasionally
She remembers the day when he put them in her feet-Her wedding day
And her heart is filled with bliss!

For he feels happy for tasty meals
For he is upset like a child for petty reasons
Yet she loves him a lot.
